We are super proud of our new Bendigo Station 8ply yarn we have just launched that we’ve grown the merino on our very own sheep at Bendigo. During the year our merinos roam free on the Central Otago highcountry as it is here where they thrive the best.
I love this shot of my father with his beloved merinos in the yard at Bendigo and it reminds me of how lucky I am to have grown up on such an awesome place such as Bendigo.
Our beautiful merino wool comes in a variety of colours: snow, olive, duck egg, dusky pink, navy, truffle taupe, ochre & silver birch.
Above ochre and snow are knitted up into a intricate cable jersey and our very own Aviator Hat. The below photo is raw merino fibre freshly shorn off our Bendigo merino's. Merino sheep produce tight wool with a fine crimp making it perfect for knitting yarn.
During the month of September the sheep are brought down to the wool shed from the high-country to be shorn and graded by our expert team.
Here our duck egg 8ply yarn is knitted into the most beautiful baby cardigan. A future family heirloom.
We hope you enjoy our yarn as much as we love producing it.
